Scholarships
The department offers two scholarship opportunities for outstanding students:
- the Stephen Stephan Award,
- the Elaine Ogden McNeil Endowed Scholarship Award, and

Student Eligibility and Nomination Information
Stephen Stephan Award
To be eligible for the Stephen Stephan Award, students need to be juniors in any social science major (sociology, criminology, economics, psychology, political science, history, anthropology, or geography).
To nominate a student, please communicate with the Departmental Award Committee Chair Dr. Song Yang. The nomination should include the students name, eligibility, and a description of evidence of excellence to include: GPA, class performance, research aptitude, activities, or any other extracurricular activities.
Elaine Ogden McNeil Endowed Scholarship Award
To be eligible for the Elaine Ogden McNeil Endowed Scholarship Award, the awardees need to be juniors majoring in Sociology.
To nominate a student, please communicate with the Departmental Award Committee Chair Dr. Song Yang. The nomination should include the students name, eligibility, and a description of evidence of excellence to include: GPA, class performance, research aptitude, activities, or any other extracurricular activities.
