Alpha Kappa Delta Student Honorary Society

Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) was founded by U.S.C. sociologist, Dr. Emory S. Bogardus in 1920 to promote the scientific study of society by providing a forum for student and faculty discussion. The society has grown into an international organization dedicated to promoting, facilitating and recognizing academic scholarship in sociology.

Alpha Phi Sigma Student Honorary Society

Alpha Phi Sigma (#FS) is the only National Criminal Justice Honor Society for Criminal Justice Majors. The society recognizes academic excellence of undergraduate, graduate students of criminal justice, as well as juris doctorate.

Center for Social Research

Since 1982 the Center for Social Research has provided research services to government agencies, communities, and businesses. Located in the Department of Sociology, the Center can conduct survey and public opinion research, impact assessment, evaluation and policy assessment. The Center's staff can provide assistance with research methodology and design, sampling, data collection and analysis.

The Center’s professional staff has vast experience in virtually every aspect of social research. In addition, the Center’s resources include computer assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) facilities; extensive archival data holdings, including on-line access to the archival holdings of the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) at the University of Michigan; and, in-house statistical analysis using major statistical packages including SAS and SPSS.

Community and Family Institute

The Community and Family Institute (CFI) is a joint effort of the University of Arkansas and the Harvey and Bernice Jones Center for Families. The Institute is a multidisciplinary research center in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences that conducts basic and applied research, as well as policy related studies on the critical issues facing families and communities in the region and the nation. The Institute receives government and private funds and sponsors faculty and student applied research on the family and the community.

Terrorism Research Center in Fulbright College

The Terrorism Research Center in Fulbright College (TRC) was created in 2003 to facilitate research on terrorism, extremist violence, and the effectiveness of intervention strategies. The Center plays host to the American Terrorism Study (ATS), the nation’s longest running research project on terrorism in the United States.
