Dr. Wilson Palacios, Associate Professor of Criminology at the University of South Florida, will present "The Sociology Canvas: Moving Towards a Rediscovery of Self," from 4:00 - 5:20 p.m., Thursday, April 17th, 2008, in CHEM 132. Dr. Palacios is the 2007-2008 Alpha Kappa Delta Annual Speaker.
His research focuses on social epidemiology of substance use and abuse, illicit drug markets (social networks) and drug subcultures, qualitative research methods, and Latino/a issues in criminology and criminal justice. In addition to his many journal publications, Palacios is author or editor of four books including Cocktails and Dreams: Perspectives on Drug Use and Alcohol, published by Prentice-Hall Press.
Dr. Palacios' visit is sponsored by the University of Arkansas Chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta Sociology Honor Society, in collaboration with the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice.
